For the last day I was about to spend in New York City I decided to take things slowly and sleep all morning. Felt really refreshing and by noon I was ready to go to the subway again to meet with my host. He had offered to show me through Little Italy and Chinatown since both neighbourhoods are close to where he works. (more…)

I was out on my own again on Monday and it seems like every time I hit the streets alone, the weather changes rapidly. While the New York weather was very nice, sunny and warm, over the weekend, which was actually pretty good because we spent a lot of time outdoors, on Monday there was a drizzling rain right from the start of the day. (more…)

For Saturday the weather was brilliant and in the afternoon me and my host were to go to watch a soccer match (about which I will write in a separate posting). But before that we set off to the south of Brooklyn to go to Coney Island. (more…)

The second day of my trip looked rather dull since it had been raining all night and there wasn’t any chance of the rain stopping any time soon. I was on my own for the first time since my host obviously had to work. We were to meet up later during the day, but until then I was out to explore the city. (more…)

It’s a hot and humid place after all. New York, after only one day, already has fulfilled all my expectations and got me curious to see even more. I think even after only one day one can sense what this city means to the world. So, here’s how I got there. (more…)

There wasn’t anything to do after we returned to Toronto on Sunday because the rain was pouring down all the time. So instead we stayed at home and relaxed. Which was nice as well, having nothing to do and just hanging around at home. (more…)

For the weekend my hosts took me to what I guess is the biggest tourist attraction in this area. Everybody all around the world knows about Niagara Falls and that’s where we went yesterday. (more…)
Rainy Toronto

There wasn’t anything to do really as the weather changed dramatically. When we all woke up it was raining and the CN Tower had disappeared behind a wall of mist. So me and my host hung around for the morning without doing anything before leaving for a mall in the city center. (more…)

For the first day my host showed me around downtown as we first stopped by a small bakery right in the neighbourhood. Apparently the shop was run by Sri Lankans but the sweet stuff there was amazing. He took me to a small coffee shop afterwards where we had a very delicous coffee indeed while we were eating what we got at the bakery. (more…)

Finally I have some time to write something here as I wasn’t able to do anything over the past few months. Ever since I got back from my trip to Japan I was drowning in work and, to be honest, I wasn’t feeling like writing stuff on this blog anyway. But, hey, now I have some free time again and I’m in Canada right now. (more…)
