While to me it’s pretty easy to despise something like “shots on goal” it’s a lot harder to get to the bottom of “ball possession”. This actually can tell you something about the flow of the match and the dominace a team might have over its opponent. Still, with this one as well, there are some things I don’t understand at all. In the wake of the 2nd round match of Team Japan against Cuba tonight there were good news for the countless fans of the Hanshin Tigers a few days ago. The missing statue of KFC’s Colonel Sanders which was dumped into the Dotonbori Channel during the celebrations of the Tigers first and last win of the Japan Series resurfaced during cleaning works.

When the start of the new season is close a lot of experts come up with predictions about what will happen over the course of the next ten months in the league. Who will win the championship, who will enter an international competition, who will be relegated, what player will score the most goals, and so on, you all know this game. No while I am in now way what people would call an expert still I want to check myself by putting up some predictions before the season, just for myself so I can look them up when everything is over and see by how much I missed. There has been a lot of talk over the past few months about how the coverage of the German Bundesliga was supposed to be set up for the 2009/10 season. The threat of a torn matchday were dangleing in front of the fans’ eyes, “British circumstances” where you have games starting at various times of one day, some at noon, some in the evening, some in the afternoon.
