I didn’t have anything planned for today so I slept for a really long time which was really helpful after yesterday’s exhausting trip to Nikko. Which is why not that much happened at all. I got up and then my host’s mother was kind of enough to keep me company and fi me something to eat. The yakisoba was very very delicious.
In the evening my host, my host’s sister and her husband and me went to Odaiba which is the seaside part of Tokyo. There are a lot of stores, restaurants and bars at the place so we hung out at one for some time and took a walk at the sea front. In one building which was sort of a shopping mall there was an exhibition for some 10th anniversary of the anime “One Piece”, so a lot of people were walking around there. To get a change of the scenery we then went to a huge game center. There I had my first experience in a batting cage. The ball wasn’t thrown as hard, but to me with my bad eyes it was nearly impossible to hit it first. But then I somehow caught up with it and was really hitting it. That felt really good. The husband was way better than me. He said he played for his middle school team and although he was a bench player he hit every ball. When we changed over to a football game where you had to hit targets I was able to show some of my skills. Europeans know how to play football after all, hehe.
This game center wasn’t as noisy as the one I went to in Ueno, but it was a lot more crowded. A lot of couples hung out there spending time together and sometimes it was fun to see them sit at video game stations playing together. It was a great way to spend the evening. I also uploaded some pictures at the flickr site.
