The league has been back in action since last weekend and it seems as if nothing has changed that much. I just finished watching the Sunday evening game beteween Dortmund and Munich and although I have to admit that Bayern was the better team they won they way they always win. Which is not overpowering their opponents, but slicing one into the goal in the closing minuts of the match. Annoying. I wasn’t expecting anything from Dortmund though because they had a lot of injuries over the past few weeks.
It won’t win the the first place yet though, as Hoffenheim still keep on standing strong at the top of the table. They were struggling at Mönchengladbach, but scored the equalizer late enough to secure a point. It seems they can somehow hope with the loss of their top striker Ibisevic, but I wonder how long they will manage to do so.
Hamburg squandered the lead and gave Karlsruhe a breather. It’s getting pretty close down there, especially with Cottbus winning today as well. The place is packed down there.
The biggest disappointment though up until now are Schalke and Bremen Two of the top tier teams of the league are struggling to move on. I expected something like that from Schalke because of the way the team is made up, a lot of complicated characters. But Bremen is a different story. Strange. We’ll have to wait and see what will happen over the next few months.
Last week saw a lot of games with very little goals but it seems the Bundesliga is back again on the offensive side. I have to admit that although you have the usual suspects running up front – with the exception of Hoffenheim – this season is a lot of fun to watch as the games are a lot more open and teams tend to try and score one more goal instead of just scoring one and then putting everybody in their own half and just trying to defend the lead.
Down the leagues Fortuna Cologne wasn’t able to start into the new year yet as last week’s game as well as this week’s were postponed due to weather conditions. So there is nothing new there yet.
