I don’t really like to brag about stuff and I’m not very good at promoting the things I do with my band(s), but this time I am really proud of what I accomplished with the guys I make music with. In May both of my bands put out records on vinyl. For one it was the bettersweet farewell present to the singer who will now move along to be a father for his newborn son. The other one was the debut release.
amodestproposal have been around for 10 years now and while it’s nothing be particulary proud of we still feel that we made all the right choices during that time. We never gave in, we did “our thing”, whatever that might have meant to each and every one of us. The music we made, was the music we wanted to make and even when things got complicated we still kept pulling through. We put out four releases, one demo, two CDs and now a 7″ single. We always wanted to have at least one release on vinyl, so when our singer told us that he would call it quits we recorded the last 4 songs we did with him and created what we think is our best record ever. What everyone of us liked about this was that with this 7″ you are really able to follow that path we went down. From the first demo to the last EP there’s a line which is constant. There are no breaks, no sudden turns. It’s a development. And with those last 4 songs we’ve reached perfection in what we wanted to do. It’s not as if we feel like there is nothing to accomplish, but when Pascal told us that he wants to pull out of the band, we felt like it was a good way to end this chapter. Me and the rest of the boys want to try and give it a shot with something new. Look out for us in the future. In the meantime feel free to listen in to our songs on our Myspace site. And if you happen to like them drop us a line at contact [at] amodestproposal [dot ]de. The single is limited to 500 copies.
So while talking about the end of one chapter, why not open up another one. What made the month of May so special to me was the release of yet another record I contributed to to. Arktika formed in the summer of 2008 and none of us would have thought we’d have a record out so fast. At first we were just trying out to find something all of us could compromise on, but it turned out that working together lead to results rather sooner than later. And from there on things took off. We recorded two really long songs which made it on “Heartwrencher”, a 12″ which was released by Narshaada Records, we played our first show, no, wait, we played more shows and one came with our heroes in Envy who we had the pleasure to open up for at their gig in Cologne in April. We’re right at writing new stuff at the moment and will play at least two more shows this year, but of course we are looking to play a lot more often. Both songs of this record can be found on our site and if you happen to like them feel free to get in touch with us or the guys at Narshaada to get your copy. From what I’ve heard they are selling pretty good.
